Commissioner - Ward 5
Brown-Cummings Funeral Home is a one of Enid's finest businesses. The people are warm and caring and incredibly friendly. They are active participants in the community and they are a pleasure to have in my ward.
I have lived in Enid for nearly fifty years. When my father died in 1984 and my mother in 2001, I entrusted the care of the two people who gave me birth and nurtured me to Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. In all respects, the funeral home met my expectations of professionalism, reasonable charges, dignity, and discretion. Both of my parents were buried in the cemetery and my father lay in state at our home, Elmstead, north of the city before his funeral. Dad was buried from the Episcopal Church and mother from the Presbyterian Church. I spoke at both of their funerals.
Brown-Cummings has also been heavily involved in community service. Mr. Brown, Sr., was active in Masonic circles and a member of the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers. All four generations have been active in the Enid Rotary Club and both Joe and Shaun served as President.
With the public more interested in the availability of cremations and even “green funerals,” Brown-Cummings has been responsive to that concept. Its prices and fees are competitive to anyone else in town, and often lower. In this community, successive generations have had multiple funerals for members of their family with Brown-Cummings once they experienced the first funeral for a loved one.

My experiences with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home
During the 50 years I have lived in Enid, I have been to at least one funeral per year conducted under the supervision of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. I have never had any occasion to criticize any part of the arrangements or the service. These are truly professional, caring people. Brown-Cummings Funeral Home looks like your grandmother’s house, both inside and out. All entrusted to the care of Brown-Cummings have received the highest dignity and professional commitment possible. The preparation of our deceased loved ones, the intricate work of an embalmer, has always presented them as their families would remember them. Nothing is rushed and nothing is hurried.
Stephen Jones, Attorney at Law
Brown-Cummings Funeral Home is a very shady outfit, calling people at home trying to take other companys business, then printing in the local paper that services are pending with them when in fact they were told we did not need or want there company to do any thing for us. There are much better Funeral Homes in Enid to do business with.
Brown-Cummings Funeral Home is in the highest traditions, and indeed the best traditions, of funeral service. The funeral home itself is at the same original location when it first opened nearly 90 years ago. Some of Garfield County’s leading families invested in the funeral home and became stockholders. It has been my privilege to know each of the four generations who have managed the funeral home from Mr. Brown, Sr., and his wife, to his son, Gerald and his wife, his son-in-law Joe (married to Becky Brown), and their son, Shaun Cummings.
