When our 2 year old hot water tank stopped heating, my husband looked at the owner's manual and diagnosed the problem. But, when he said I just have to be careful about putting the part back in or I can mess it up, I thought, "Better safe than sorry. Let's call a professional." We called Northwest. The lady who answered the phone was curt. She wouldn't even tell me if someone could come out the same day, only that she would call us back & let us know. 2 hours later, without a call, a plumber showed up at the door. His first comment was about how new our tank was & how he never works on products this new. He then proceeded to read the owner's manual, so much for a professional! When he came to the same conclusion my husband had reached, he informed us that he didn't have that part. He then left to check. 45 mins later he returned with a part (not the right one) and an adapter. After checking only that the pilot light lit & not that it stayed lit, I got a $120 bill (I was billed for the time he was checking on the part). 4 hrs later, same problem. Next day, called NW & requested a different repairman. Same guy appeared, said he couldn't fix it without a part he had to order from the manufacture, a conclusion he should have reached the day before. I would have to pay for the part & shipping & it would take 3 days to arrive or $92 for overnight delivery plus another bill from them to have it installed. The bill for the 2nd day was another $150. Having spent nearly the cost of a new tank, I refused to authorize any add'l work. Plumber kept saying we sell tanks & can get you in a new tank & haul off old one. When I said we can do that ourselves (believing that they just wanted our old tank to resale), he got incredibly hateful. He yelled at me, belittled me, and had me so mad that I was in tears (my husband was at work that day). I had to tell him to leave my home. My husband and I are both in our 60s & I truly believe they were just trying to take advantage of us. Worst experience ever!!!
Can't say enough good things about this company. I don't think I have ever waited even a day for them to get here and they show up in a nice truck, use well maintained equipment, and have the friendliest people. We use them for everything at home and the office. Just great people all around.
